So, you can add a new library by selecting its type between movies, TV shows, music, photos and home videos, along with library name and language. As far as looks goes, Plex Media Server is sleek and sophisticated, thanks to a dark theme and intuitively displayed buttons. It may take a while for the media manager to load in the web browser. Not mentioned in the installer is that the tool automatically starts at Windows boot, and this option can be disabled from the tray icon's context menu.

Accessibility via the system trayĪfter a quick and uneventful setup procedure, Plex Media Server creates an icon in the taskbar notifications at startup, thus allowing you to rapidly bring up the web interface and manage media content, regardless of the workspace you're currently working in. All of this can be achieved from a web interface. It's annoying as fuck.Plex Media Server facilitates a simple solution for uploading local media files and streaming it online, thus creating a media server that can be accessed by you and your friends to enjoy movies, TV shows, music, photos and home videos, regardless of your location worldwide. I can't just rename it once, I have to change the collection name on each individual item in the collection, one at a time. Lets say I want to change a collection called Lord of the Rings to Middle-Earth because I added The Hobbit films to it. Oh wait, editing Collections is a giant pain the ass. Whatever, so it could use a bit of cleaning up, I don't mind that, I meticulously choose the posters for every single item. Why are there so many collections with just a single item in them, especially when they SHOULD be part of a collection. Just as an example, right at the top, I have a collection that is just 28 Days Later, and right below it, I have a collection that is just 28 Weeks Later. Emby has nice posters for each collection. It's not pretty, it's just a list of text. It's not clear where they are, there should be a link in the sidebar for starters. It's one of the few things I'm envious of Emby. I really like the idea of Collections, but Plex just does it so poorly.
